The primary purpose of this book is to present quantitative forecasting of the mid-term probability of large earthquakes both globally and over various regions of the world.? The author used the novel seismic activity regression formula to calculate the probability of an earthquake, in the global and major seismic zones, with any given magnitude at any given time since the most recent earthquake of the same magnitude. This book is the author's 50+ years accumulation of achievements in researching and teaching geophysics and seismology for mitigation of earthquake disasters. 專輯籌備30年 女友一個沉默讓黃子佼重錄新歌
今年底的唱片大戰將有一位資深新人宣布加入，出道30年的黃子佼首張個人專輯終於要問世，期間經歷5次開案、公司異動，看著身邊後輩、同期如卜學亮等都發片了，從小愛音樂的黃子佼只能眼巴巴地繼續等，22日首次以歌手身分面對媒體，宣告發片這事絕對認真、不是玩票。
女友孟耿如搶先一步也要推出音樂作品，黃子佼盛讚女友專輯「很好聽、捨不得關掉機器」，也透露在家練唱時孟耿如也有聽到自己的歌曲，之前在車上聽黃子佼錄好的歌，孟耿如一個沉默的反應，就讓黃子佼知道成品沒有打動對方、溝通後決定重唱，黃子佼說：「我們是很理性的情侶，不要瞎捧，這部分我們是教學相長、跟年紀無關。」
至於新專輯大公告成後，黃子佼第一個還是想獻給張小燕：「最能理解我的煎熬、明白等待失落的人是小燕姐，但我也最怕她聽，好像準備聯考，最後到了考試一片空白，所以很矛盾，很怕她聽了說『也還好』，很多矛盾心態，很期待小燕姐評語是『有唱到位，意境表達出來』。」
至今主持過無數歌手發片記者會跟活動，這次黃子佼發片決定不辦記者會，封口不想多講、反而要多唱，校園演唱會讓他很有興趣，年底的跨年活動，不但要主持、也會演唱，2種身分先後站上舞台，黃子佼坦言現在對排行榜、點擊率已經不在意，連金曲獎都不敢想，只想好好作好這出道30年至今沒作過的事情—當個歌手好好宣傳自己的音樂作品，有共鳴跟認同，就已經是最大的肯定。
